چکیده

We study membrane scattering in a curved space with non-zero M-momentum p11 transfer. In the low-energy short-distance region, the membrane dynamics is described by a three-dimensional N = 4 supersymmetric gauge theory. We study an n-instanton process of the gauge theory, corresponding to the exchange of n units of p11, and compare the result with the scattering amplitude computed in the low-energy long-distance region using supergravity. We find that they behave differently. We show that this result is not in contradiction with the large-N Matrix Theory conjecture, by pointing out that cutoff scales of the supergravity and the gauge theory are complementary to each other.

Membrane Scattering with M-Momentum Transfer

Membrane scattering in m(atrix) theory is related to dynamics in three-dimensional SU(2) gauge theory, with transfer of p11 being an instanton process. We calculate the instanton amplitude and find precise agreement with the amplitude in eleven dimensional supergravity.

A Numerical Study of the Effect of Aspect Ratio on Heat Transfer in an Annular Flow Through a 270-Degree Curved Pipe.

In the present paper, a three dimensional annular developing incompressible laminar flow through 270- degree curved pipe is numerically simulated. The dimensionless governing equations of continuity, momentums and energy are driven in toroidal coordinates. The governing equations are discretized by projection algorithm using forward difference in time and central difference in space. A three-di...

Application of small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) for differentiation between normal and cancerous breast tissues

ABSTRACT Background: Coherent scattering leads to diffraction effects and especially constructive interferences. Theseinterferences carry some information about the molecular structure of the tissue. As breast cancer isthe most widespread cancer in women, this project evaluated the application of small angleX-ray scattering (SAXS) for differentiation between normal and cancerous breast tissues....

Classical gluodynamics in curved space–time and the soft Pomeron

QCD at the classical level possesses scale invariance which is broken by quantum effects. This “dimensional transmutation” phenomenon can be mathematically described by formulating classical gluodynamics in a curved, conformally flat, space–time with non–vanishing cosmological constant. We study QCD high–energy scattering in this theory. We find that the properties of the scattering amplitude a...

Applying a Modified Two-Fluid Model to Numerical Simulation of Two-Phase Flow in the Membrane Chlor-Alkali Cells

In this study, gas evolution in a vertical electrochemical cell is investigated numerically with a modified two-fluid model. The mathematical model involves solution of separate transport equation for the gas and liquid phases with an allowance to inter-phase transfer of mass and momentum. The governing equations are discreted via the finite volume technique and then are solved by ...
